Welcome to the Lower Loup Natural Resources District

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District is one of 23 NRDs serving the people of Nebraska. Set up along hydrological boundaries, the NRDs are the local agencies responding to natural resources challenges in a variety of areas. The Districts have the responsibility to protect and maintain natural resources in areas ranging from water quality and quantity to forestry, range management, soils and more.

LLNRD HOSTS CEDAR MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District held a workshop designed to assist landowners with a balanced approach to eastern red cedar management on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, two and a half miles west of Taylor on Highway 91. Read more.

LOWER LOUP NRD WELCOMES NEW DISTRICT SECRETARY TO FULLERTON OFFICE

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District has hired Jeanne Horacek of Fullerton as the NRD’s new District Secretary at the Fullerton NRCS office. Read more.

NRD NEWSLETTER MAILED TO DISTRICT RESIDENTS

The Lower Loup NRD has distributed the latest edition of it's district-wide newsletter, entitled IN THE LOUP, to residents in all 16 counties that make up the NRD. Read more.

LOWER LOUP NRD RECEIVES GRANT FROM THE NEBRASKA ENVIRONMENTAL TRUST

The Lower Loup NRD announced today that it will receive $46,075 from the Nebraska Environmental Trust for the "Wood Waste/Saw Log Utilization and Red Cedar Management Project." Read more.

ORD TEAM TIES FOR TOP RANGE SCORE AT STATE ENVIROTHON

An Ord High School team tied for first place in the range category and fourth overall at the 2008 Nebraska Envirothon contest held May 3, 2008 at the State 4-H Camp in the Nebraska National Forest at Halsey. Read more.

IRRIGATED ACRE CERTIFICATION DEADLINE HAS PASSED

If you own irrigated land in the Lower Loup Natural Resources District, every irrigated acre had to be certified with the NRD by January 1, 2008. Read more.

DIRECTORS, STAFF HONORED FOR SERVICE TO NRD

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District honored four Directors and four staff members for their service at the NRD’s Annual Awards Dinner December 20, 2007 in Ord. Read more.

LOWER LOUP BOARD APPROVES NEW GROUNDWATER RULES

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District Board of Directors gave approval to changes and additions to the NRD’s groundwater management rules following a public hearing in Ord September 27th. Read more.

OVER 146,000 TREES PLANTED IN 2007 IN LOWER LOUP NRD

This year, 146,201 trees started new jobs as they were planted across the Lower Loup Natural Resources District. Read more.

LOUP CITY NRCS OFFICE IS NOW CLOSED

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service office in Loup City closed its doors September 28, 2007. Read more.

SOIL AND WATER SAMPLING REQUIRED IN AREA 28

Soil and water sampling are part of the requirements for residents of Area 28, a strip of the Lower Loup NRD south of the Loup River stretching from Columbus to west of Fullerton. Read more.

MEASURE RAIN WITH AN NERAIN GAUGE

With more showers hopefully on the way, volunteers are still being sought from townships in each of the counties served by the Lower Loup Natural Resources District for the NeRain program. NeRain is short for Nebraska Rainfall Assessment and Information Network. Read more.
