LOUP CITY NRCS OFFICE IS NOW CLOSED

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service office in Loup City closed its doors September 28, 2007.

Steve Chick, NRCS State Conservationist, said "Farmers, ranchers and landowners have already been notified by mail that they will be provided service out of a near-by NRCS office or the NRCS office of their choice if they responded to the mailing.”

Unless the producer chose otherwise, NRCS technical and financial services formerly received in Loup City will now come from the NRCS office on North Highway 11 in Ord or by calling (308) 728-3244, extension 3.

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District will maintain a secretary in the Loup City USDA Service Center for District functions until about November 15.

The office closings are part of an NRCS effort to reduce costs and improve staff efficiency triggered by a reduced budget. The office closures in Loup City as well as those in Harrisburg and Chappell were announced in July by NRCS after a series of public meetings and approval by USDA.
