The program included information on woodland management techniques, pruning trees to increase wood product values, and potential red cedar wood products as well as other topics. The event was held at the Mathews Farm in Howard County, about two miles north of St. Paul on Highway 281.

The workshop included presentations from North Central District Forester Rich Woollen of the Nebraska Forest Service. Woollen and Lower Loup NRD staff also provided equipment demonstrations including a EZ Boardwalk portable saw mill, a Brush Wolf brush cutter and a Vermeer wood chipper. Dr. Mathews has several walnut plantings and demonstrated walnut shelling equipment at the workshop.

Students from two classes at Greeley-Wolbach Public Schools also attended the event.

The Woodland/Red Cedar Management Workshop was one of six workshops held around the NRD and funded through a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust and was presented in cooperation with the Nebraska Forest Service.
