Public Meetings Set for Mud Creek Watershed Project

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District (LLNRD) in partner with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) hosted a virtual public meeting regarding the Mud Creek Watershed Improvement Project on September 1, 2020. During the meeting, participants were able to learn more about project planning from project personnel, as well as ask questions and provide feedback. The LLNRD is partnering with the NRCS to hold two future community meetings to discuss the Mud Creek Watershed Improvement Project which is focused on flood prevention. The meeting schedule is as follows:

The Mud Creek Watershed Improvement Project area is located along Mud Creek downstream from Merna to Litchfield and is focusing on benefiting agricultural areas and the communities of Merna, Broken Bow, Berwyn, Ansley, Mason City, and Litchfield. The purpose is to identify projects, such as berms, dams, channel cleanout, bridge and culvert improvements, by-pass channels, or other alternatives that will result in flood prevention. The information gathered during public meetings will help guide the planning process
