An integrated management plan creates a foundation of data and tools to effectively manage water use and supply.  It creates a framework for the sharing of data.  It looks at the opportunities that exist to create a plan adaptable to changing conditions and it provides an avenue to receive local input regarding future water uses and needs.

The plan has now gone to Gordon "Jeff" Fassett, the Director of the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources.  With his approval, the NRD and DNR will work together on integrated management of water resources in the Lower Loup River Basin.  The Lower Loup NRD will continue to manage groundwater resources and DNR will continue to manage surface water.

The integrated management plan was created after a series of meetings where water use stakeholders offered guidance and input in establishing elements of the plan.  The Lower Loup NRD and the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) were assisted in creating the plan by Olsson Associates, a consulting firm from Lincoln.
