Palmer's Dennis Mottl Wins 2017 Educator Award

Palmer High School Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor Dennis Mottl has been named the recipient of the Natural Resources Educator of the Year Award for 2017.  The Nebraska Association of Resources Districts presents the award annually to recognize outstanding natural resources education efforts in Nebraska.

Mottl has been an agriculture education instructor for over 35 years.  He has taught at schools in Fullerton and Palmer.  His students have a tradition of success in land judging and range judging contests, and other agricultural competitions.  Mottl said that, in the over 35 years he has been an Ag Ed instructor, over 700 of his students have participated in area range judging contests, over 300 have participated in state range judging contests and 32 students have competed in 8 National Range Judging Contests. 

Over 1,000 of Mottl’s students have participated in area land judging contests, 140 have participated in 33 state land judging contests, and 88 students have competed in 19 National Land Judging Contests.  Five have competed in National Range Judging Contests.

The Lower Loup Natural Resources District nominated Mottl for the award.  He received the award at a luncheon during the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts Annual Conference in Kearney September 25th
