NRD Arboretum Benefits From OHS Students' "Community Service Day"

October 12, 2017

A group of Ord High School students spent part of an afternoon working in the Lower Loup NRD Arboretum as part of the school's "Community Service Day."  The students helped load downed tree limbs, pulled up old drip irrigation tubing, and cleaned up the NRD's tree nursery.  The students were accompanied by OHS staff Nathan Wells and Colleen Grint.

OHS students filled two trailers with tree limbs.

Students add more logs to the pile.

Students wrestle a large limb on to the trailer.

These 14 students and their advisors helped clean up the NRD Arboretum.

  • Buy trees

Trees. They stand silent and strong…protecting farms and ranches as livestock or farmstead windbreaks and controlling snow as living snow fences.
