When the Lower Loup Natural Resources District's Ground Water Management Area (GWMA) became effective January 1, 2002, the entire District was placed in Phase I of the NRD’s Ground Water Management Program. Phase I requires a permit prior to construction of a well that pumps over 50 gallons of water per minute, regardless of its intended use.

A PDF version of the well permit application is found in this same section under Forms. Most well drillers working in the Lower Loup NRD are familiar with the permit process, but anyone with questions can contact the District Headquarters in Ord for more information.
